Mark your calendars and grab your dabbers to join Puppy Food Bank on Wednesday, July 16 at Chicken N Pickle (5215 UTSA Boulevard, 78249) for Bark N’ Bingo! Festivities kick off at 6:00 p.m. and we want YOU to bring some paw-sitive energy as we B-I-N-G-O our way to raising funds for shelter pets across the U.S.
Participants will enjoy lite bites, opportunity to shop from local vendors, and plenty of chances to win fun door prizes throughout the evening.
All admission ticket proceeds will support Puppy Food Bank’s mission of ending pet hunger one bowl at a time. General admission is $25 and gets you 5 bingo cards, VIP tickets are $50, and gets you 10 bingo cards, as well as a special swag bag with pet lover goodies!

Puppy Food Bank’s 2nd Annual “Putts Fore Pups” Golf Tournament teed off on April 14, 2025 at the Dominion Country Club of San Antonio with the goal to raise critical funds for no-kill pet rescue organizations across the United States.
Through the incredible support of sponsors, players and volunteers, Puppy Food Bank raised over $125,000 &#8211; marking a significant fundraising milestone for the organization.
All funds raised through the tournament helps ensure more dogs and cats receive a second chance to find their forever homes!

Driving Change: 2nd Annual “Putts Fore Pups” Golf Tournament Raises Over $125K For No-Kill Pet Rescues

For a second year, Puppy Food Bank partnered with San Antonio-based AM radio show <a href="https://www.ktsa.com/">KTSA 550</a> to raise much needed funds to support “no kill” pet rescues through a one-day radiothon.
The annual radiothon, which took place on Friday, April 11, was led by actor and pet ambassador John O’Hurley. The initiative helped raise $29,598; all funds will directly support the nonprofit’s efforts to feed hundreds of homeless pets across the country.

Word of mouth is one of the most powerful tools for any nonprofit. That’s why having not only a supportive community spreading the word, but voices that can amplify the organization’s mission and encourage even more involvement is essential.
Puppy Food Bank is so excited and honored to have a new ambassador voice ready to jump on board to help them support even more pet rescues across the nation.
Forty years ago, <a href="https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001368/">Ernie Hudson</a> became a prominent cast member in the ‘Ghostbusters’ movie franchise as the lovable ‘Winston Zeddemore.’ After appearing in over 100 Hollywood films and television series, Hudson can now add “Puppy Food Bank Ambassador” to his professional resume.
He will begin appearing in multiple PSA campaigns for Puppy Food Bank to encourage one time and monthly donations that go to providing the crucial pet food rescues need. “I love dogs and I’m proud to support an organization that is saving pet lives,” stated Hudson.
Hudson joins the Puppy Food Bank’s other pet ambassador, actor <a href="https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0641417/">John O’Hurley</a>, a former Seinfeld star and the co-host of NBC television’s ‘<a href="https://nds.nationaldogshow.com/">National Dog Show</a>’ that airs each year on Thanksgiving Day.
“As a growing non-profit, we are blessed to have both these ambassadors not only promote our efforts but personally giving to our organization as well. It’s truly amazing,” stated Puppy Food Bank Executive Director, <a href="https://puppyfoodbank.org/our-staff">Danielle Gunter</a>.

Ernie Hudson Joins Puppy Food Bank as New Ambassador

Starting April 1, 2024, the Puppy Food Bank is expanding it’s footprint to assist pet rescue shelters all across America. The success we experienced in Texas in 2023 AND the overall humanitarian need led us to that decision. There are too many dogs (and cats) euthanized every year. The cost of feeding animals is a major deterrent for rescue shelters to maintain their shelter populations. Hence, most city and county government shelters routinely euthanize unclaimed pets after just 2-3 days!
“We are better than that, my friends,” says Puppy Food Bank’s ambassador &amp; spokesperson John O’Hurley.
Puppy Food Bank’s founder Bob Wills made the decision late last year to expand their virtual food bank to the 48 U.S. continental states in an effort to significantly reduce the number of pets euthanized each year. “Many studies estimate that over 375,000 dogs are euthanized every year—that’s about 1,000 dogs every day! That is not how we should be treating mankind’s best friend,” states Wills.
As Puppy Food Bank receives more and more monthly donations from people joining our cause to save pet lives, more and more shelters can be financially assisted with pet food support. We are at the mercy of caring pet lovers to make a major difference.

Legendary BBQ Chain Raises $60,000 for the  Puppy Food Bank

<a href="https://puppyfoodbank.org/">Puppy Food Bank</a>, is on a mission to provide essential food supplies to struggling pet rescue organizations across San Antonio, Dallas-Fort Worth, Corpus Christi, and Austin.
Recently, the Puppy Food Bank held a Pledge Week in the San Antonio market, asking local community members to show their support by donating $11 a month or more to this cause. Thanks to their incredible generosity, Puppy Food Bank raised $34,000.
As part of pledge week, philanthropist and prominent injury attorney <a href="https://thomasjhenrylaw.com/"> </a><a href="https://thomasjhenrylaw.com/">Thomas J. Henry</a>, generously matched the donations up to $40,000 and brought the final contribution to $74,000 raised. With the money raised, Puppy Food Bank can provide more than 37,000 lbs of dog food to pet rescue organizations across Texas. Individuals and organizations like Thomas J. Henry are vital to Puppy Food Bank’s mission to ensure that no pet goes hungry.
Thomas J. Henry has been a long-term supporter of animals and loves giving back to those who are helping rescue pups in need. For more than 10 years, Thomas J. Henry has hosted Bark in the Park, full of fun-filled vendors, dog adoptions, and a pet costume contest where contestants have the chance to win cash prizes.
Events like Pledge Week showcase what Puppy Food Bank can do with the support of donors and how Texas rescue shelters can benefit from these fundraisers. Danielle Gunter, Executive Director, says it was important to launch the Puppy Food Bank during such a critical time for pet rescues due to the overwhelming level that these rescues are intaking pets. The cost of food, like everything else, is going up and rescues still have other bills. We want to be able to fundraise and support local pet shelters and organizations that may not have the capacity or the bandwidth to constantly be calling or negotiating deals for the cost of food because they are out saving lives.”

Puppy Food Bank’s Pledge Week: Generous Donations for a Paw-some Impact!

<a href="https://puppyfoodbank.org/">Puppy Food Bank</a>, a non-profit organization dedicated to ensuring furry friends never go hungry, hosted their very first pet food distribution event on Monday, May 22, 2023, at the beautiful <a href="https://www.sanantonio.gov/ParksAndRec/Home/cp_directory">Orsinger Park</a>.

Kahlig Auto Group’s North Park Subaru dealership showed further commitment to the cause and donated $20,000 to support Puppy Food Bank’s mission.
Phil Larson, North Park Subaru General Manager shares a little bit about his love for animals and why he supports this cause. “We believe in the work that Puppy Food Bank is doing for pups in need and we wanted to contribute to this great organization in the best way we know how, by providing the Puppy Love Xpress vehicle. Our dealership has pledged $20,000 to help support the Puppy Food Bank even further, so that they can keep doing what they are doing for pet rescues here in Texas.”
The event benefited Puppy Food Bank’s pet rescue partners: <a href="https://godsdogsrescue.org/">God’s Dogs Rescue</a>, <a href="https://hhsanimals.org/">Helotes Humane Society</a>, <a href="https://www.gchscc.org/">Gulf Coast Humane Society</a>, <a href="https://wcnkas.org/">Wilson County No Kill Animal Shelter</a>, and <a href="https://www.loveandpuppypawsdogrescue.com/">Love and Puppy Paws Dog Rescue</a>. The lives of these puppies were changed as Puppy Food Bank was able to distribute 6,515 pounds of pet food to these incredible rescue organizations and shelters.
The Puppy Food Bank relies heavily on the kindness of individual donors and corporate sponsors to help keep those furry bellies full across the state of Texas. We encourage donors to sign up for a monthly donation of just $11.00 (37 cents a day) as it can make a major impact.
