Keep Pets Safe, Warm, and Fed This Winter with Puppy Food Bank

Home / News / Keep Pets Safe, Warm, and Fed This Winter with Puppy Food Bank

When winter weather hits, pets across Texas face more than just chilly nights, they face real danger. Freezing temperatures can quickly become life-threatening for animals left outdoors without proper shelter, food, or warmth. Every year, local rescues and shelters see an increase in emergency intakes of pets suffering from cold exposure, neglect, or abandonment.

At the same time, this season also coincides with puppy and kitten season, which happens twice a year. Shelters are overwhelmed with newborn litters and abandoned animals that require constant care, warmth, and nutrition. With overcrowding at an all-time high and donations often dipping after the holidays, rescues urgently need community support to meet growing demands.

That’s where Puppy Food Bank comes in. Our mission is simple but vital — to ensure no pet goes hungry or cold, no matter the season. But we can’t do it alone.

How You Can Help Right Now

  • Donate Essential Supplies: Shelters are always in need of items that help keep pets healthy, comfortable, and safe during the winterwitner months including:
      • Gently used or new blankets, towels, and pet beds
      • Heating pads, space heathers approved for animal use, and insulated dog houses
  • Give Financially: Your donation allows Puppy Food Bank to quickly respond to urgent needs by providing nutritious food and critical resources to shelters and families caring for pets in need.
  • Spread Awareness: Remind neighbors and friends to bring pets indoors when temperatures drop — no pet should be left outside in the cold and a simple reminder can save a life!

By working together, we can help every dog and cat feel the warmth of safety, care, and a full belly this winter.
